Budd Huber began his food and beverage career in Princeton, New Jersey, in the late eighties after studying psychology at Juniata College. While studying under some renowned chefs and mixologists, Budd realized that his calling was food and wine. He dedicated himself to learn everything that he possibly could, and came to South Carolina in 1991 to tend bar and manage a number of fine dining restaurants. Budd has since achieved a number of milestones, such as receiving his sommelier certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers, Bar Smarts Certification from the Pernod Ricard sponsored school, as well as completing and then teaching a series of classes on liquor production methodology, history and modern liquor product knowledge.
Budd relocated to Charleston in 2004 where he began the infusion and mixology program for the Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah Island. Currently, he spends most of his time consulting, educating the public, and mentoring promising newcomers in the restaurant and hospitality industry at his current position as J Paulz Sommelier and Manager.
Most days you will find Budd behind the bar where he feels most at home. Budd has concocted many unique infusions and has introduced a truly unique cocktail program, offering more than 60 classic and new creations.
